The Gidroaviasalon 2008 international hydroaviation exhibition and conference began in Gelendzhik on September 4. According to the exhibition’s official website, its main aim is to demonstrate ship- and water-based aviation. Airplanes and helicopters, including military models, and other naval equipment will be on display. More than 100 enterprises from Russia, Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Ukraine and the United States are represented there this year.
Russia is represented by Beriev Taganrog Scientific and Technical Aviation Complex, the Sukhoi Co., MiG Russian Aircraft Construction Corp, Russian Helicopters, and other companies. Sukhoi will have a central place at the exhibition and will display its Su-80GP passenger and freight plane, Be-103 light amphibious craft and Su-27KM and Su-35 jet fighters.

The Russkie Vityazi and Strizhi pilots’ groups will mount an airshow using Su-27 and Su-35 planes.

A scientific conference will also be held in connection with the exhibition. The aerodynamics of seaplanes, corrosion and special equipment will be discussed, as well as applications for hydroaviation in transportation, firefighting and rescue work.
